01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
When choosing a sports or darts bar, it is worth knowing whether the food is substantial enough to make a meal of, as well as whether there is something to drink. Hero’s Cafe, in a building in Kanda-Surugadai, pairs a casual setting with a broad drinks list and a full food menu.
Bar food, from cold plates to hot dishes
Start with cold dishes such as house-made pickles, cured ham and avocado with herb mayonnaise, or beef round tataki. Fish and chips and fried chicken are familiar fried favourites to enjoy alongside a drink. There are also more substantial dishes, including ginger-fried pork loin made with pork produced in Japan, pork with kimchi, and clams with herb butter—giving the menu plenty to offer for an evening meal.
Cocktails and a choice of spirits
The drinks list includes the Hero’s Highball, with its fragrant aroma and satisfying depth, alongside a wide range of whiskies and spirits. Alongside beer and sour drinks, the selection ranges from classic cocktails made with gin, rum, tequila or vodka to sweeter liqueur-based drinks.
A relaxed evening base, with room to make it your own
With tables and counter seating, the venue accommodates different ways to spend an evening: groups can gather over darts or sports on the large monitors, while the counter offers a place to take time over food and drinks. It opens in the evening and stays open late on Fridays, making it a place to keep in mind for an easy-going stop in the Kanda area.
